County seat, Alcobaça is located at the confluence of the Alcoa and Baca rivers, coastal zone in central Portugal. Belonging to the district of Leiria, Alcobaça the county has 18 parishes and is the second most industrialized county in the district and one of the most populous.
In Alcobaça, we can find the famous Cistercian monastery of Santa Maria was founded in 1148 by D. Afonso Henriques. In this monastery there are the tombs of King D.
